If you are looking for a restaurant for a special treat, anniversary or personal milestone, then Moor Hall with Rooms. This two-star Michelin establishment in Aughton has just been named the best restaurant in England and the second best restaurant in the UK.

Restaurants rarely get more prestigious or acclaimed than this. And this gourmet restaurant is right here in Lancashire.

Set in beautiful grounds of several acres, with its own garden where produce is grown for the ingredients of the dishes created in the award-winning kitchen by Patron Chef Mark Birchall and his team. It also has a casual sister restaurant, The Barn, which received its first Michelin star earlier this year.

Remember to book as early as possible, as tables can book up to four months or more in advance

Moor Hall is a Grade II listed mansion, with five exclusive bedrooms and two more inside the lakeside gatehouse, offering an inventive and interesting tasting menu and overnight packages. It even has its own helicopter pad.

He was praised at the National Restaurant Awards 2022 in London last week for his “ambitious and brilliant cuisine”. Read on to find out more about Moor Hall, where it’s advisable to book months in advance.

So what’s on the menu and how much does it cost?



Moor Hall Gardens and Grounds

Diners can expect a culinary masterclass, with dishes inspired by local produce grown on the restaurant’s grounds, as well as dishes and flavors from around the world. Guests seated at the same table must choose the same menu.

Seafood, charcuterie, seasonal vegetables and creative cuisine for colorful dishes.

The lunch service is provided from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., with the “Menu Provenance” available from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. only. While dinner service is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each menu is also accompanied by an optional food and wine pairing.

Cheese room – you will find a range of the best British and Irish farm cheeses and they are picked according to the seasons.

Wine cellar – the grape variety is essential in the choice of the wine list, ensuring that it best matches the dishes. The team of sommeliers is highly qualified and experienced and is open to your questions. Customers are allowed to bring their own wine, but there is a corkage fee of £60 for still wines and £75 for sparkling wines.

Please note: A 12.5% ​​discretionary service charge is added to all restaurant and bar bills. From 1 July 2022 the price of lunch and dinner will increase to £115 and £225 per person respectively.

How to book a table and a night?

Reserving a table is easy, you can visit the website and select the ‘Moor Hall Restaurant’ or ‘The Barn Restaurant’ tab and if you can’t find the date you are looking for you can choose to join the list. ‘waiting. A deposit will be taken at the time of booking.

Alternatively, you can opt for the “dinner and stay” package, which includes one night, dinner and breakfast.

Unfortunately the rooms are fully booked until September, but there is currently plenty of availability in October and November and late spring summer 2023 if you wish to plan ahead.

However, in the event of cancellation, Moor Hall will re-vacate the rooms, so it is worth checking their Facebook page for more information or last minute availability.
