A woman in her 90s was punched in the head as she read a restaurant menu on the Upper West Side
The woman was attacked by a 35-year-old man at Manny’s Bistro at 225 Columbus Ave on the Upper West Side on Thursday afternoon.
“I suddenly received a terrible blow to the back of the head. I thought something had fallen on me,” said the victim, who did not wish to be identified.
The victim says she was standing on the sidewalk looking at the menu when the man hit her – she never even saw his face.
However, restaurant owner Manuel Colon saw the man’s face and followed him.
“Let me follow him and call 911 at the same time, instead of getting myself involved and getting in trouble,” Colon said, “One punch right to the back of the head without no reason – just walking and just decided to hit her.”
Colon says he stayed a few places behind and saw the assailant continue to harass others along Columbus Avenue. He says he was wobbly and clearly drunk.
“I was just keeping an eye on him in case he was going to grab somebody else or hurt somebody else. Then I would have stepped in, but I said ‘just let me watch him carefully'” , Colon added.
Four blocks later, the police arrived and Colon pointed to the man.
Enrique Loeza, 35, was charged with one count of assault.
Victim says she feels fine. She refused medical attention
